Conquer the mountains under your own steam and, after a gruelling climb to the top, simply let gravity do the rest while you enjoy the feeling of the wind in your hair ... that’s the magic of a biking holiday in the mountains.
There are around 1,000 kilometres of cycle paths and 800 kilometres of mountain bike trails to pedal in our holiday region. There is something for everyone: adrenaline-filled downhill and single trails, as well as never-ending switchbacks for road cyclists.
How about this for an idea? A one-hour, medium difficulty mountain bike tour from Hopfgarten over the Gruberberg mountain – short and sharp, with around 450 metres of climb? The Brixental cycle path offers fantastic views for the whole family. The 37 km tour leads through the wonderful Brixental valley, past pretty villages, and ends at the idyllic Schwarzsee lake in Kitzbühel.
Hardened bikers choose to fight their way up the Kitzbühel Horn – Austria’s steepest cycling hill, with a gradient of 22.3%. The panoramic asphalt road can also be climbed on a road bike. And for those who turn a little green just thinking about the uninterrupted 1,500 metre climb, we can recommend an e-bike. You can hire one from us at any time for € 28 per day or € 15 per half day!
Did you know that the Kitzbühel Alps are the biggest e-bike region in Austria? Around 80 charging stations ensure that your e-bike never runs out of juice – and the strong Tyrolean mountain hut culture means that you’ll stay fully charged too.
